GlossyBox uses

Glossy Box uses

I am a huge lover of getting my money out of anything I own, so with glossy box all your products come in pretty pink boxes unless they are a special edition such a Christmas which are easy to re purpose as any generic box is. Mine are used to store candles in my drawers before I use them and all my craft supplies.

I use the special edition boxes to keep my kids accessories in so they don't end up all over the place. I have my daughters bows in a golden box and my son's braces are in a valentines day box.

Another use for the boxes are for gift boxes, this Christmas my family will be receiving some of their presents in Glossy boxes. I will cover the logo on some with tags/ Christmas images and others I will leave as they are.

                              (one of my Christmas boxes)

Your parcels are also wrapped in tissue paper which I save to use as wrapping for small presents for birthdays again this is in a pastel pink so is perfect for any female for birthdays or an unusual twist for Christmas.

There is also a bed of crinkled thick paper/card that I am going to be re purposing in Christmas hampers for my family at Christmas, it means I can make a personalised present without having to folk out the expense on the wadding and more on the presents within the hamper itself.

I love getting the full use out of an item and I really enjoy reusing my packaging as I feel it would be so wasteful to just through it in the bin. I hope this has given you some inspiration.

Royal Apothic Cream Creme - Cutting garden

Royal Apothic Cream Crème – Cutting Garden

Moisturising Body Crème

I received this product in the November GlossyBox

Firstly the packaging on this product is stunning, the box feels expensive; it has a beautiful texture and feels solid. It is in pastel lemon shades on two sides and a pale blue/green with beautiful oriental inspired flowers on the remaining sides. The tube itself reminds me of the L’occitane hand cream tubes it is yellow emblazed with white filigree swirls decorating the tube; the writing is in bold black within a lace postage stamp looking box.

The fragrance ‘Cutting Garden’ is a very subtle floral that lingers in all the right ways without being heavy. I am not a big lover of floral they generally give me a headache but this one is beautiful and what I would class as a modern floral rather than an old fashioned stagnant smell.

Texturally it is thicker than a lotion or gel but not as thick as a heavy moisturiser it has a great slip so sinks in quickly without any pulling on my skin. My skin was left feeling smooth and well moisturised for hours and had a subtle sheen which I loved. The size I received is classed as a travel size at full size it would cost £14.50 which isn’t too bad for a well made moisturiser, I would definitely consider purchasing again and I am glad that I got the chance top try it out.

Leighton Denny - Its An Honour

Leighton Denny – It’s An Honour

I am a huge lover of Leighton Denny nail varnishes; the formulation is beautiful and goes on smoothly with the perfect size brush that allows you to create the perfect 3 swipe manicure.
(Colour has no gold in despite the picture)

This colour is muted metallic silver that reminds me of a cashmere jumper; it is the perfect everyday colour that could easily be worn out on a night out. I absolutely love it and have so many Leighton Denny colours that this one fits in perfectly along side others in my collection. I know for a fact this will not be my last LD purchase.

Make Up Revolution Lipstick Passion

Make Up Revolution Lipstick – Passion

I have never used Make Up Revolution before and I must say I am very impressed, I found this lipstick to be smooth and easy to apply. It smelt of sherbet so was a delight to put on; the colour is so rich and deeply saturated.

I love red whether it is my hair, lips or nails its one of my favourite colours to wear and this lipstick was the perfect sophisticated red especially at Christmas times its great. Passion is the perfect name for this delectable red. The colour lasted 8 hours without fading, it didn’t transfer on to glasses when drinking and I was able to kiss my kids without covering them.

The packaging is a simple black bullet with a colour panel in the lid with a colour match so you can see at a glance what the colour is.

I absolutely loved this lipstick and will definitely be buying more colours and trying other products in the range.

Essence Liquid Lipstick

Essence Liquid Lipstick ‘Show Off’

I received this product in the December GlossyBox

On first appearance this ‘lipstick looks very much like a me colour and the idea of having a lipstick with a lip gloss applicator is highly appealing as I find glosses so much easier to apply however I would not class this as a lipstick. It doesn’t have the coverage, nor the long lasting or the texture it has the same tacky glossy feeling as glosses, your hair sticks to your lips and the colour is much diluted from the colour in the tube.

I have never heard of this brand before and I would never seek to find them out; even if I wanted to find them again you would struggle. on the tube there is no branding at all except on the tip of the lid there is an ‘e’ on the bottom where most products have name of colour there is just details of ingredients and batch codes which is less than helpful.

Overall I would not buy this lipstick nor would I be tempted to try anything else by the brand.

Eylure Naturalities Natural Volume

Eylure Natural Volume

I received this product in my November GlossyBox

I never wear false lashes; I have never attempted to put them on myself as I am completely cack handed and the very few times in my life I have worn them they have been applied by other people but to try out this product fairly I have done it myself.

As a complete novice the directions are very simple and easy to follow giving me confidence before I started that even I cant muck this up. I used an eyelash applicator that I picked up in the pound shop to give me more control and almost a third hand which probably helped me more and I felt my hands shook less with this extra control.

Once applied it took a few minutes for them to feel comfortable but this is more a case of them being unfamiliar and foreign to me but once I adjusted I loved them, they are lightweight and comfortable; they gave me a beautiful full set of lashes with a curl that doesn’t look over exaggerated or false.

During

After

I would definitely buy them again, there is so much glue supplied as well that you can get multiple uses from the one set. I am so glad that I have had the opportunity to try them they as it has given me confidence to try other styles out. Packaging is more function than beauty which is ok but boring; thank you GlossyBox for another great product.

So Susan - Haute Light

So Susan – Haute Light Highlighting Pencil

This is a product from my October GlossyBox.

The plus side of GlossyBox is that you can get your hands on products that you would never of thought about buying; this is one of those products. A peach/pink pencil would not be on my too buy list but thank the lord for GlossyBox and there boxes of wonder. I know the benefits of adding white liner to the corner of your eyes and as a thin line around your eyes but would never of considered a peach colour.

The peach lifts the white in your eyes and opens them up to give the illusion of bigger and healthier eyes which I loved. A simple swoosh of this chunky pencil lifts your whole face of makeup but no one can really tell you how or why you look different.

Packaging is not great I feel the colours are wishy-washy and insipid; the pencil is mostly in a pale blue, not turquoise nor baby blue just a faded blue. The writing and print is in orange but not a strong enough pigment that you can easily decipher what the product is telling you or what the pattern is and it is a shame as the print is super cute of zebras and umbrellas.

Overall I really love this product and will definitely buy again and again.

MUA - Undressed pallete

MUA – eye shadow palette ‘Undressed’

I received this 12 shade palette as part of my November Glossybox.

On first impressions the sleek black packaging with large clear window easily displaying the colours within is great. I thought it looked professional, expensive and something I would definitely pick up off of a shelf; however the disappointment quickly followed when I couldn’t get in to the palette. It took a lot of force to open at which point my fingers nearly destroyed two of the colours and ripped the lid off.

The colours look lovely in the palette and easily wearable but as you can see in my photos the lack of pigment makes 3 shades of the top row invisible. I liberally applied the colours to try and get them to show but they are a complete waste of time.

Top Row

Puff, Rose Ash, Fawn, Gild, Hazel and lion

The only colours I would use from the top row would be Fawn and Lion as they have a stronger pigment and are clearly visible on my eyes.

Bottom Row

Bronze One, Burnished Brown, Tawny, Henna, Fuel and Cool Grey

The bottom row has a stronger set of pigments meaning most are useable and can be blended together to create some good looks. With this palette I feel MUA could of completely got rid of the top row and spent more money on the bottom colours to develop more. To buy the palette will only set you back £4 so isn’t going to break the bank but I would not bother to re purchase and it has definitely stopped me from looking at other eye shadow sets provided by MUA.

Revlon - Black Cherry

Revlon Black Cherry Super Lustrous Lipstick

I received this lipstick in the November GlossyBox

Wow the pigment is amazingly strong in this lipstick. I have never used a lipstick this strong in colour before; due to my pale skin I have always veered closer to the paler pinks and sheer reds rather the bold statement colours. So when Glossybox gave me the choice of colours from the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick range I went against everything within me telling me to go subtle and choose the bold option.

The formulation of this lipstick is beautiful it went on smoothly and left no drag allowing the rich dark colour to fall perfectly on my lips; the name of the colour is perfect it is a true black cherry red. The bullet is more frightening than the finished colour which is still pretty scary. (so much so my husband asked if I was being fashionably late with Halloween)

I don’t know if this colour suits me but I would definitely buy more form the range and I would also try other ranges of lipstick by Revlon.

Ciate - chinchilla

Ciaté – Chinchilla

This colour is from the ‘Nail Taxi’ collection from which Mistress also came.

I am still unsure on the brush that Ciaté use in their nail varnish; I am hoping that the more I use the brand the better I will get with it. The brush is so chubby, which means it goes absolutely everywhere I managed to get more on my fingers than I did on my nails this time round.

The colour is beautiful and I am a huge fan of the formulation of the paint itself; it goes on smoothly and effortlessly with no drag allowing you to apply with some sense of speed. The colour is a soft dove grey with the slightest hint of pale blue, when I have used similar shades by other brands it makes my hands look so pale they gained a blue hue to them but Ciaté somehow seemed to warm up the colour of my hands but still achieving a winter frost on my nails.

Overall the good points of ‘Chinchilla’ are:-

  • Great colour,
  • Smooth formula
  • Easy application

Bad point is only one really and that is the chubby brush. I do highly recommend Ciaté as a brand if you can get past the brush.

jelly pong pong - mascara

Jelly Pong Pong – Fairy Lashes Mascara

This is one of the products from my October GlossyBox.

First off this is such a great name, its one I really enjoyed telling people I used it just a shame that I don’t rate the product. Let’s start off with the positives;

  • No mineral oils
  • No Phthalates
  • Fragrance free
  • With moringa seed resin
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Non-comedogenic
  • Suitable for contact lens wearers
  • Not tested on animals

Now I don’t know what most of that means if I am honest and I don’t wear contact leanses so for me that is not a plus point. The only points that have any significance for me is the no mineral oils, the inclusion of moringa seed, and that it isn’t tested on animals (I don’t seek this out but I would buy a product because of it).

Packaging is a pretty purple with white flowers on it; all writing is in black making it clear to read and follow. The tube itself is shaped like most mascara tubes with a pointed end where the brush is, it is dark purple/brown in colour with pastel pink writing. All in all the packaging to me isn’t the best the colours are ok but I have seen better, I would not pick it out from a shelf in a shop which to me is what packaging is for.
(Picture is with one eye with the mascara and the other clear)

The wand and brush are the most important part of any mascara in my opinion, the brush is a fat oval with the same style bristles all the way down due to this the mascara struggles to pick up my smaller lashes leaving a lack lustre set, I felt that it gave me no curl and no definition. It’s so sad as in principle and on ethics this is such a lovely idea but it just failed to deliver on what you need a mascara to be. A big positive for it was that it never moved, it didn’t leave black specks on my cheeks after a few hours or smudge marks and it is a very intense black.
(This is with both eyes coated)
Overall I would not buy this again.

Talika - Photo-Hydra Day

Talika – Photo-Hydra Day

This is a product from my October GlossyBox.

I am a huge lover of moisturisers; with my dry skin I really struggle to keep it hydrated so given the chance I attempt most moisturisers on the market starting at the lower end all the way to the expensive part of the market.

Packaging on this product really reminds me of elemis, simple, sophisticated and elegane. Simple colours finished off with a very reflective silver cap, I love the white with blue writing.

Photo-Hydra is a semi translucent cream which had a gel like texture that applied easily and evenly and quickly sunk in leaving my skin feeling smooth and silky allowing my makeup to go on straight away afterwards. I tried it with a BB cream afterwards and powder; neither time I struggled to get an even layer or drag. Once applied the cream appeared to decrease the size of my pores and left a beautiful sheen on my skin that lasted all day. It has a very subtle fragrance that I can’t describe but I liked it. The moisturised feeling didn’t go down either which I was really impressed by especially in the winter months where your skin has to suffer not only the cold but the wind and rain also.

Overall I really enjoy using this product and would definitely consider buying again.

Calvin Klein - Orange Too Lipstick

Calvin Klein – Orange Too

I have an obsession with Calvin Klein Lipsticks; I have a good collection and thought I better share my love with the world and begin reviewing the colours I have.

Orange lipstick would not be my colour choice in fact I would be running in the opposite direction as fast as I could, but I thought I would give it a go due to my loyalty to brand. What you find with Calvin Klein lipsticks is they go on with great ‘slip’ there is no drag at all and you only need to apply one layer to get the full impact of colour without the effort of lip liners and reapplication.

As you can see in the picture it is a full colour that I would say is more on a red spectrum than overly orange but is has definite orange hues. Overall I highly advise if and when you see these lipsticks buy them all they are amazing.

Miss Sporty - Miss Cocktail Lip Gloss "Bloody Lilac"

Miss Sporty – Miss Cocktail Lip Gloss “Bloody Lilac”

As a brand Miss Sporty is at a lower price point than most starting at just £1, so my expectations were not great but I needed a quick gloss before going out and this was the only brand I could find. That is probably not the best reason to try out a brand but it is the truth.

Application is easy with a quick squeeze it glided on smoothly and effortlessly leaving a beautiful sheen and a lovely colour that didn’t look cheap and lasted roughly an hour to an hour and a half which for me and gloss is pretty good going. The colour looks so intimidating when you look at the tube a shockingly bright purple but it goes on so sheer it just adds the right amount of colour.

Overall I would buy this brand again; the price point is cheap enough to buy a wide variety of colours.

Glossybox October 2015

Glossy Box October 2015

This is my first glossybox and overall I am impressed; now as I have mentioned in previous posts I am a sucker for packaging and glossybox hits the nail on the head although I am slightly disappointed that my pink box looks like it has been dragged around and thrown with scuff marks and black lines.

The outer coating/ posting box is a glossy black box with the company logo emblazoned all over; this leads to no confusion about what is inside leading to more excitement.

Once through the black box you are greeted by a baby pink shiny lid with ‘GlossyBox’ written in a large black font with the same emblem as on packaging above the writing. Once you lift the lid the sense of importance and decadence screams through; with the softest of pink tissue paper and black grosgrain ribbon tied lightly in a bow just waiting to be opened. On the tissue paper there is a round monochrome sticker with the company logo boldly sealing the tissue shut like a 15th century letter sealed with a wax seal.

Beneath your luscious layers the real fun begins with five great products waiting to be played with; in this month’s box you have-

  • So Susan – Haute Light Highlighting Pencil £15
  • Talika – Photo-Hydra Day £24.85
  • Nicka K- Airbrush Blending Sponge £6.50
  • Lanolips – Antibacterial Hand cream £8.99
  • Jelly Pong Pong – Fairy Lashes Curl Mascara £17.95

I will be reviewing all products in separate reviews to give them their own voice and my true opinions in a deeper exploration of their uses.

I hope you have enjoyed this review,

Lanolips - Intense Hydration & Protection

Lanolips – Intense Hydration & Protection

This is the first product in which I am reviewing from my October Glossybox;

As a mum of a 10 month old and a 4 year old I have to was my hands a crazy amount of times in a day especially when we are out due to continuous nappy changing and toilet breaks for my 4 year old. When you add in that the baby cries at loud noises and the 4 year old has managed to grow a fear of hand dryers (God knows why) using sinks in public toilets is pretty much a no go hand sanitizer gels are my saviour however I have really sensitive eczema prone skin the drying formulas hurt more than they help on some days.

So on the surface Lanolips is a perfect compromise an antibacterial hand cream that kills 99% of germs whilst moisturising and protecting my poor hands, what is great about this product is it uses lanolin a completely natural product. As a mum who breast fed I am well aware of the soothing quality of lanolin so to see this in a hand cream is a huge bonus.

The cream itself has a lovely subtle fragrance that I can only describe as is clean; it is non offence and I really like it. I think it comes more from the aloe within it as that has a distinctive smell but this is not as strong as other aloe products I have used. When you apply it has a slight drag to it but nothing too drastic, it instantly sinks in and leaves a lovely texture and feeling on my skin which is great in this season. The feeling on my skin lasted ages and if I was to buy this as just a hand cream I would be very happy with soothing effects it has on me but to have the antibacterial quality too is such a huge benefit.

As I have said before I am a true lover of packaging and it has a big impact on whether I buy a product. The outer box is lovely in a subtly blue with a watercolour drawn version of the product on the front panel; the look of the packaging has a beautiful vintage feel I think it would look just in place in 1950 as it does now. The one thing that does disappoint me with the packaging is the size, from the outside it looks like you are going to get a fair size product however when you open the top of the box you are greeted with a separator that splits the box in half which to me seems like a waste really.

Overall I really like this product and would definitely purchase again as a treat for me rather than for the kids as my son did not like the feel if the cream he prefers the gels.

Aloha Lola Cards Illustrations

Aloha Lola Cards

I have had such a good day today, I was scrolling through twitter checking out multiple different blogs and tweets when I saw the cutest little sketches by Aloha Lola Cards. They were so cute that I had to go investigate; after a few retweets and interactions they made me into an illustration.

How amazingly talented are they I absolutely love it, I sent a photo of me at Disney hence the ears and rain Mac. It is currently my display picture on twitter if you want one check out their etsy page https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/AlohaLolaCards or on twitter as @AlohaLolaCards they are so reasonably priced that I am buying a few for Christmas presents.

I was not paid to advertise this lovely page I just genuinely adore the sketch she made me that I needed to let you all know about her.

Super Dry Wayfarer Sunglasses & Max Factor Sheer Gloss Balm – Red Garnet

Super Dry Wayfarer Sunglasses & Max Factor Sheer Gloss Balm – Red Garnet

After a night of getting up every 20 minutes to resettle a 9 month old and a 3 year old who both have colds I look like one of the walking dead. However as a busy mum I don’t get the time to rest up and not leave the house so here is my solution for a sleep deprived mum.

Super Dry Wayfarer Metallic Purple

With these super reflective metallic sunglasses you don’t need to worry about putting eye makeup on those tired aggravated eyes just hide them and the world doesn’t need to know. I love these shape sunglasses I feel they are more flattering than round frames and suit more face shapes than traditional styles. They are also UV category 3, your eyes are the most sensitive part of your body and the thinnest skin so you need to protect them with everything you can.

I team up the sunglasses with a bright lip to give my face a bit of colour after a long night. In this instance I used:

Max Factor Sheer Gloss Balm – Red Garnet

This is softer to apply than a lipstick but not sticky like a traditional gloss or lip balm, on a day where energy levels are low I don’t need to be worrying about reapplying and having to deal with sticky lips and this balm is perfect. The colour lasted 2 hours and the pigment was sheer allowing it to look like a better version of my lips, you can also layer this up to get a stronger colour. As I pointed out earlier the thinnest skin you have is around your eyes and it is closely followed by the skin around your mouth so it also needs protecting. This balm is also an SPF 10 which doesn’t sound a lot but every little helps in this case I found that this balm left my lips feeling moisturised for hours after the colour faded which is great in these colder months.

Overall I would recommend this gloss balm for a fuss free colour that isn’t sticky would definitely buy other shades.

Ciate - Mistress

Ciaté – Mistress

I am a sucker for packaging and so far Ciaté has the best packaging within the nail industry. Her use of watercolour inspired graphics and eccentric English scenes drew me in instantly, enticing me into the colourful world of Ciaté.

The first set I have brought from Ciaté is called ‘Nail Taxi’ it is made up of three colours, metallic grey, red and a glitter black, the packaging of this set is great it is a sleeved box with the image of a London taxi with the three nail varnishes visible behind Perspex windows; set back from the taxi is a red phone box, tree and building creating the image of a London street.

I am going to review each of the three colours in separate reviews so that each colour can be looked at as an individual. First off I am going to look at ‘Mistress’ a beautiful British letter box red, in the curved bow topped bottle the colour looks smooth and silky. As I took the lid off the first thing I noticed was the length of the handle it is longer than any other nail varnish I have ever used; this creates a sturdy line to lean on whilst applying the colour. Secondly I noticed the thickness of the brush, I am a huge fan of Leighton Denny whose brush is thinner and splays out allowing you to do your nail in three even strokes to get full coverage; now the Ciaté brush is thicker and filled my nail in one to one and a half strokes at first this was hard to adjust too. The only way to describe it is trying to go from a fountain pen to a board marker and trying to write in a birthday card, once I got use to the thicker brush the speed in which I finished my nails was amazing it allowed me to do a full manicure in less than 10 minutes (not including a little clean up).

The colour is beautiful and I must admit I am more impressed than I thought I would be, it is a sophisticated red that has no shimmer or glitter but stands on its own as a bold, bright colour. One thing I am not sure on is the solidness of the finished colour, I don’t know if it is this colour or is a generic point of all Ciaté colours but it is slightly transparent not noticeable from a distance or at first glance but on closer inspection you can slightly see through it and that is after three coats.

Another huge plus point of this nail varnish was the speed in which it dried, by the time I had gone from little finger to thumb my little finger had dried. It also seems smudge proof which I have never had from a nail varnish brand even after they have been touch dry.

Overall I really enjoyed using Ciaté and the new style brush, the colour is beautiful and the speed in which I could have a fully dried manicure is amazing. I will definitely be buying other sets by this brand or individual colours. Keep a look out for my review on the other two colours from this same set coming soon.

Elemis - Pro Radiance Cream Cleanser Special Edition

Elemis – Pro Radiance Cream Cleanser Special Edition

I am the worse at removing my make up and cleansing my skin but this year I have vowed to look after my skin properly and prevent aging as much as possible. I use to use baby wipes to remove my make up; I know a shocking skin disaster that stripped my delicate skin everyday but I carried on anyway.

Elemis tag line ‘Defined by nature led by science’ is one that appealed to me; with the promise of luxurious deep cleansing with aromatics of the Mediterranean was too hard to resist. Now as a wipe girl I found cleansing to be daunting and using a cream direct on to my dry face was a baffling one to start with and I was so tempted to wet my face first but resisted and followed the instructions. Much to my surprise it didn’t drag on my skin but went on like a luxury cream that I massaged all over my face (I didn’t use on my eyes I used Floracil to remove eye make up) concentrating on my deeper more open pores around my nose and chin. I left on my skin for a few minutes and used a warm muslin cloth to remove everything including a full face of make up and build up on my skin.

I have been using this cream cleanser for almost a month now and I have to say that it has really helped to close my open pores and I have had no issues with spots or dry skin patches since I started using it. The only thing I am not overly keen on is the fragrance, I don’t feel it adds anything to the product I don’t know what the original smells like but I hope when I buy it that it does not have any fragrance. The packaging is a simple white tube that doesn’t feel very luxurious but the silver details and graphics give it a slightly more expensive feel.

Overall I would recommend this product as it does what it says in a decadent way.

I Love... Coconut & Cream Body Butter

I Love… Coconut & Cream Body Butter

On first appearances the packaging is very simple with a clear large base and simple black lid. All brand info and logo is on a large sticker on top of the lid; the logo of a heart made of hearts is very simple but effective, however the sticker isn’t central on the lid and it is one of those things that really bugs me. You do however get a lot for your money, the pot I have is 200ml which for any body product is a great size.

As soon as you un-wrap the plastic seal around the base and lid you can instantly smell the delicious aroma that is concealed within the pot. The consistency of the body butter is a luxuriously thick cream that is easily absorbed when applying. The texture is so smooth and enjoyable to apply that you want to keep adding more and more. Once on my skin it felt moisturised through out the day and the aroma of coconuts stayed on my skin for hours; it also left a lovely sheen on my skin.

I highly recommend this product and will happily by from this brand again; my only advice I would give is make sure you like the smell of it before you apply as the fragrance does not budge.

Barry M - Mono Eye-Shadow 3 Tan

Barry M – mono eye-shadow 3 tan

This is my first try of Barry M eye-shadows and I have to say I am a true convert to the brand. I used Barry M a few years ago as a teenager and in my mind that was all they were a brand for trialling make up so I left it in my past but trying a few products lately has made me regret that decision.

This eye-shadow is a beautiful everyday colour; I would describe it as a muted metallic. It is a neutral tan that has a reflective gold quality that doesn’t dominate your face of make up but gives a subtle shimmer to your eyes. I absolutely love it and have worn it everyday for the last week as it is so wearable and lasts all day.

Packaging is also great, black base with a clear top allowing you to see the colour of each eye-shadow without opening all your pots. The clear top has a cheetah style print in silver printed around the edge as a frame to simple font and logo.

Overall I would highly recommend this eye-shadow and the whole range of Barry M make up as it is of great quality that wears well and is great value. Also top tip muted metallic’s is going to be a huge trend in spring/ summer 2015.

Leighton Denny - So LA & Angel Effects

Leighton Denny – So LA & Angel Effect

Its funny how certain nail colours take you straight back to moments in time, in my life I have had 3 moments that will always stay with me. One is my wedding day and the other two are the birth of my kids I can tell you my nail colour on each of these events. At the birth of my kids I wore Leighton Denny’s So LA on my fingers and it always makes me smile when I wear it.

So LA is a beautifully bright pink that lightens up any day, I call it my happy day nails as you can’t not be happy with this glossy beauty on my fingers. I wanted a slightly different take on one of my favourites so I added Angel Effect tips on my fingers and an all over coat on my thumbs as the nails aren’t quite long enough to have tips on them.

Angel effect is unlike any other top coat I have used the pieces of metallic glitter vary in shapes from strips to triangles; the pieces themselves are an iridescent green/ orange to them. It reminds me of the back of a CD which is reflective and almost mirror like. It is a great way of extending any colour as if you do what I did and apply on the tips it hides any chipped areas.
